Virtual Reality hardware and popularity are growing at a record pace. Already the industry is well past 20 billion dollars in annual economic activity and in 2020 around 60 million VR devices were sold. The takeaway from these numbers for marketers is that now is the time to start heavily leveraging VR content as a means of pushing content to consumers and as an alternative to traditional advertising.
The engagement of VR is what draws users into the VR world, and this is precisely why marketers love VR experiences –there is no other media type that is as immersive or engaging as VR 360 is. This means that brands can have their audience more engaged with their story and content than any other means possible.
There are a few different TYPES OF VR CONTENT, click that link to learn more about VR and marketing, but we wanted to take a look at some of our favorite VR 360 marketing experiences so far.
NASA’s Perseverance on Mars!
One of the most astounding pieces of video content produced, this 360 VR video shot on the recently landed NASA Mars rover is something everyone should watch.
If you want more NASA VR content, here’s a 2 hour long 360 VR look inside NASA’s mission control center. Again, absolutely incredible.
Red Bull Racing F1 Lap
This is a few years old, but still very impressive. Getting a first-hand driver’s perspective of an F1 lap is something that only a very select few will ever experience, but this VR 360 project gives you a pretty good glimpse of the lightning-fast reaction times and insane speeds involved!
Porsche Taycan
Here’s a product promotion of the new all–electric Porsche Taycan from a scenic driver’s perspective through Singapore! Great visuals with a compelling voiceover are the drivers behind this ad. One of the unique aspects of VR is the ability to transport the viewer anywhere, and transporting the viewer to Singapore is just another way to draw the audience in.
Qantas Airlines A380 First Class Cabin
Upselling passengers to a first-class experience is a lot easier if they see just how much nicer their flight will be instead of business class. Qantas’s video focuses on the passenger’s experience and perspective aboard a flight in the first-class compartment.
Amazon Fulfillment Center
Amazon ships nearly 3 Billion packages a year, using a combination of their ever-expanding logistics footprint and working with many third-party partners. Ever wondered about the trip your package takes once you click order? Now you know..!
McDonalds
McDonald’s made a 360 VR promotion video showing how they transformed a happy meal box into a google cardboard-style VR player.

VR branding can be used for a wide variety of purposes including trade show videos, product demos, facility demonstrations, branded content, and brand promos depending on the individual needs of a brand.
VR content will continue to grow in popularity and importance for brands, over the next several years, VR will only become available and viewable on a wider and wider range of platforms and streaming services which will force marketers to invest more and think harder about their VR 360 marketing plan.
Trade shows are one of the prime uses for VR 360 content, you are nearly guaranteed to have a huge number of visitors at your booth if you have a neat VR experience set up. Potentially doubling your number of leads at a trade show would heavily boost ROI on trade show marketing spend.
