Here are some of our favorite commercials so far in 2020!

For many brands, broadcast national television commercials are the cornerstone of their marketing campaigns, with high budgets and few limits on what can be done, these are often some of the more interesting commercials out there!

Often, many other types of advertising materials are designed from the commercial, with billboards, print, digital and social media playing off the themes and design of the main ad.

A number of these come from the 2020 superbowl, but aired throughout the year.

1. Amazon before Alexa

This was a superbowl spot that originally February of 2020, making light of how voice control has become so popular both in home and in car. Taking a humorous trip back in time to look at what life was like before voice control technology.2.

2. Porsche the heist

Another Superbowl commercial featuring the then just released electric Porsche taycan. With a 007 feel, the ad is shot very well on location in Germany!

3. Old Spice

This is one a throw back to a 1970s style commercial with way too much information presented, and shot with a 70s style design to everything in the commercial.

4 Geico Aunts

Geico’s insurance ad, features a funny spoof of buying a new house with an ant infestation. This is a fun example of a memorable branding ad that doesn’t feature a direct offer, but make you hopefully remember the brand and get a laugh.

5. Snickers- Quarantine

Perhaps one of the most relateable ads running is a funny look at society becoming so used to zoom and remote meetings and work. 

6. One of the most breathtaking commercials visually is this launch ad for the new Aston martin SUV.

Featuring the company’s first SUV, they decided to make the global media launch feature a highly produced video to show off the new vehicle.

Heineken always pulls off a Bond tie in whenever a new movie is about to be released. This year is no different, with much of Heineken’s advertising featuring Daniel Craig and Bond related music. It’s hard to have a stronger advertising partnership, just the bond theme music playing immediately grabs the attention of viewers. While no doubt the partnership is quite costly for the brewery, it’s also one of the most memorable out there.

7. AT&T branding commercial

Here’s a branding commercial that was likely quickly shot in a post- covid world focusing on what AT&T has done to help the altered landscape many are living in. Particularly focusing on how they are supporting remote learning.

8. Burger King Order from home

This is another advertisement produced during the coronavirus quarantine, showing how quickly brands pivot their messaging and focus to new external pressures. For Burger King, they not only want to maintain sales even if that means delivery based operations, but also want to gain branding awareness for supporting healthcare workers.  

9. Rusty Wallace Automotive Group

We had to throw one of our own in! This commercial was the result of quick planning as the lockdown started to make sure that consumers knew that RWAG was doing everything they could to keep customers safe with an emphasis on home service pickups and sales. With a more serious tone than many of the automotive commercials, this series of broadcast commercials helped to cement RWAG as an industry leader regionally. RWAG was one of, if not the first regional business that altered messaging rapidly to address coronavirus. Looking back a few months, this was without a doubt the right move. In addition to allowing RWAG to continue selling vehicles and remain open in an altered state, it also gives consumers who might need to get a car serviced or are having vehicles issues the ability to do so safely.

While many of these TV spots are some of the highest budget, most lavishly produced spots currently running, that doesn’t mean that all tv spots have to be so expensive. Broadcast television production can fit most budgets and generate real sales for your brand very quick especially if you run during special events with great offers.
