Learn what makes a good product video and how to create one that helps your brand stand out
We get asked all the time about budget ranges for corporate video projects. So let’s take a look at how much corporate video production costs. Whether you’re a startup introducing your brand or an established company planning out internal, investor, training or product focused messaging, video is going to be the single most engaging way to tell your story and keep your audience engaged.
At Volan Media, we’ve created ton of corporate videos, case study videos and animated product /demo videos. We know costs can vary a lot depending on the project. Let’s break it down so you know what to expect and where your budget goes.
How Much Does Corporate Video Production Cost?
The short answer: anywhere between $2,500 and $50,000+, depending on the style, length, and complexity of the project.
A simple talking-head interview might cost a few thousand dollars, while a high-end branded film with multiple locations, professional actors, and detailed animation and graphics could land in the tens of thousands. Fully animated videos using existing assets, stock assets or full animation is also something we do daily, this route of course reduces the production cost, but the emphasis is then on post production including, very often, some significant animation work which can massively vary in cost as well.
Corporate Video Cost Breakdown
So what really determines the cost of a corporate video?
Several factors shape the total cost of a video project — from pre-production planning to editing and final delivery.
Factor #1: The Type of Video Needed
A major part of the Pre-production includes concept development, scripting, storyboarding, and scheduling and overall just thinking through what all is needed. The more organized the plan, the smoother and cheaper the production phase will be. Thinking through if you want something animated or filmed onsite, is probably the first step towards really getting a good idea of the cost. If you have lots of video/photo assets and don’t need newly shot interview footage for example, we’d probably suggest leveraging the content you already have, then creating a video from that using professional voice narration, motion graphics, and animation. This is an extremely common practice that results in a great looking video, without having to coordinate a shoot. Often the cost is much lower than having to film additional content as well.
Factor #2: Type & Length of Video
This elaborates on Facto #1, but creating something that’s 10 minutes long, is 90% of the time way more work than something 1-2 minutes long. Now there are a few exceptions, for example if you want to leverage a zoom call with a client as a case study or interview, then use minimal editing, with some basic b-roll added etc, you would be able to make something longer for less than a highly polished 1-2 minute fully animated or motion graphics focused corporate promo or corporate product demo video. This is actually pretty common, as so many times, zoom footage, or even a in person interview, is the basis for a case study, testimonial or something like a company podcast type video, and in many applications works well. It’s just a totally different thing than a highly polished and highly produced short video.
In our experience, typically the shorter the video and more highly produced the video is, the higher up the sales funnel it is, where often the less produced, but longer demo and interview/case study type videos are much further down the funnel or aimed at other audiences than potential customers.
Factor #3: Project Timeline
Rush projects often cost more. If you need a finished video in a week, your production team will have to work overtime to deliver it. We do rush work all the time for a variety of client reasons, but it absolutely does increase the cost of the corporate video if it is needed extremely quickly.
Factor #4: Scope of Video – Locations, Locations, Locations
Filming at more locations, especially if travel is involved, is a very quick way to increase project cost. It can take a lot of time to setup/prep and start filming at a single location. That’s not even including travel time and costs, such as driving time, air fare, hotel costs etc for the crew.
The same goes for actors, the more actors involved, the higher the cost will be.
So in short-
The more locations, actors, or visual effects your video requires, the higher the budget will need to be. The more complex the graphics and animation are, it’ll take more work to make, hence a higher cost. Do you want animated graphs, charts, SaaS UI, or 3d product animation? – Then it’ll take more work thus time to make.
A Note on Production Equipment
From cameras and lenses to lighting and audio gear, equipment costs can add up. Rentals typically range between $500–$5,000 per day, depending on the scale of your shoot and the quality of gear used.
Now the vast majority of the time on our productions, we own frankly a huge amount of production equipment so it’s quite rare we would need to rent equipment, but sometimes, for something very specific it can be needed. For example, doing underwater filming is pretty rare for us, but requires very expensive equipment to safely use our RED, Sony, Canon and Panasonic film cameras underwater, so likely would rent specialized equipment in this scenario.
Corporate Video Production Post-Production
Once filming wraps, the footage moves into post-production — where the story really comes to life. Post-production Costs will vary significantly depending on what is needed.
Assuming new footage needed to be shot, post production can often take way longer than the actual production work, depending on what is needed. Even editing a basic interview, can take 2-5x the time it took to shoot. We at Volan Media are industry experts in post production, having used all sorts of footage, or even some not so great client supplied footage, pictures, zoom footage etc, and turned them into some pretty great looking video content. But – it takes time to do!
So the more that needs to be added in post, the more footage there is to go through, the more graphics, animations etc that are needed, the more the total video cost will be.
Editing, color grading, graphics, and sound design usually cost $75–$200/hour depending on the complexity. Adding animations, subtitles, or voiceovers will raise the cost slightly, but they’re worth it for a polished final product.
2d and 3d Animation
Animation can range from simple motion graphics to full 3D visuals. Expect $2,000–$10,000+ for high-quality animation, depending on duration and style. Animation cost is really a whole separate article, but in short, complex 2d or 3d animation created from scratch, is extremely time consuming to do, based on what is needed.
The number of scenes, the movements needed, the amount of detail, length, etc all come into play when pricing full on animated video content.
Other Factors that affect Corporate Video Production cost:
Graphics and Motion Graphics
These add a professional touch — things like logo reveals, lower thirds, or animated text. Rates typically run $100–$250/hour depending on detail and motion complexity.
Narration
Voice-over work gives your video personality and clarity. Professional narrators typically charge $250–$500 per finished minute, depending on the script and talent.
Music and Sound Effects
Music licensing can range from $50–$1,000 per track, while custom sound design and mixing can add another $200–$500 to your budget.
Stock Footage & Photos
Need extra visuals? Stock footage or photos can enhance your story without extra shoot days. Prices vary from $20–$500 per clip or image depending on licensing. We typically carry licenses from several popular stock image libraries and can often incorporate stock clips for little to no extra cost.
Multiple Aspect Ratios
Often clients will need their videos formatted in varying aspect ratios for different media placements and use cases. These are not massively complex to do, but depending on how native you want it to look, will take some added time to create say a 4:5 ratio, or a vertical 1080 x 1920. Costs are usually $100–$500, depending on the type of video and number of ratios needed.
Language and Translation
If your audience is global, translations and subtitles help. Expect $100–$1000+ per language, depending on word count and accuracy. This will involve hiring a translator, a voice artist in the different languages needed then re animated any text added into the new language. Cost varies so much, as a doing a 10-15 second social media ad in a different language is very different than translating a fully animated 4 minute corporate product demo.
Miscellaneous
This includes travel, parking, permits, props, and location fees. Always plan an extra 10–15% buffer for unexpected costs.
Factors Affecting Cost – Main Takeaways
- Pre-production planning is critical to figuring out what is needed, and to nail down the cost..
- Longer or more complex videos require more crew and equipment.
- More Locations and Actors = more money spent!
- Quality costs more — but pays off in audience engagement.
- Always budget for editing, animation, and sound.
Key Takeaway
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Most professional corporate videos cost $5,000–$25,000, but what you spend should match your goals and desired production quality.
How to Maximize Your Video Marketing Budget
- Plan ahead: Define your goals and audience early.
- Shoot efficiently: Capture multiple videos in one session.
- Use existing assets: Repurpose footage or office locations.
- Communicate clearly: Be upfront about your budget and needs.
